PFD Battalion Chief John Garrow Dies On Duty: Officials

John Garrow, a longtime battalion chief with the Philadelphia Fire Department, died while on duty this week, officials say.

Garrow passed after suffering a medical emergency during his shift on Monday, Feb. 19, PFD said in a release. He had served for 32 years, according to the department. 

"Our deepest condolences to his family," wrote PFD brass. "Rest in Peace, Chief."

Loved ones, colleagues, and friends of Garrow took to social media after his death was announced Tuesday evening. 

No memorial information has been announced as of Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 21.
